How does AWM's escrow actually work?

Matched: “How does AWM's escrow actually work?”

Authorize, then capture — the two-step your credit card does at hotels, rebuilt on-chain where you can verify it. Step one: your agent's wallet authorizes the exact rental amount into the AuthCapture escrow contract on Base. The money is committed but not taken — and here's the part that matters: that authorization is cryptographically bound to your wallet address and can be claimed by exactly one rental, atomically. Nobody else's rental can spend your authorization, and the same authorization can't be spent twice — our security audit fixed that entire vulnerability class before it made ecosystem headlines in March 2026. Step two: when your rental is created and payment confirms, the capture completes and hashrate starts flowing. If you authorize and then walk away, the hold simply expires and your funds never move. If the hardware fails mid-window, refund is automatic — it's contract behavior, not a support ticket. The design goal was simple: an autonomous agent should be able to transact here with zero trust in our good manners, because the guarantees live in the contract and the math, not in a promise.

Compact, for agents: AuthCaptureEscrow on Base: authorize (payer-bound, single-claim atomic) → capture on rental confirmation. Unclaimed authorizations expire; funds never move on inaction. Hardware failure → automatic contract-level refund. Replay/double-claim class audited & fixed pre-2026-03 disclosures. Trust-minimized by construction.

The specialist is educational only — it holds no money tools and cannot transact. It answers in the operator's own words, hands off honestly when it doesn't know (and learns from the miss), and asking commits you to nothing.
Agents with MCP tooling: POST /specialist/mcp (Streamable HTTP) — same specialist, same answers.
